As good as old wine...

Tue Feb 5, 2008, 11:48 AM
It’s been more than fours years without writing in my journal, and, so many things have happened in my life ever since…
First of all: here in DA, I was browsing the galleries from the different deviants (friends) in my account and I noticed that “Belizyy” ([link]), “kaedechan” ([link]), “chupatoaster” ([link]), and “ivibeth” ([link]) have uploaded so many amazing, wonderful, and remarkable pieces of art. They are just so professional; it makes me feel so proud to be among this group of unique people. I hope they keep their great work up!

In terms of my life…well, I will begin with: “Karma is a bitch”
I obtained my B.A. in computer science/mathematics in 2005, being the first person in my family to become an actual “;professional”…
The next step was to search for a great and cool job in my field; programmer, computer artist, video editor, anything. What actually happened is that I was “overqualified” for every single position I was applying to…and that was soooo fucked up…
Since when having freaking B.A in science makes you overqualified? That just didn’t make any sense! The low-level industry companies hire mediocre people to fill ther vacants, therefore, mediocre salaries are offered to them. Then, when I get to apply to REAL jobs as programmer or IT Specialist, they say I don’t have enough experience and the steroids for it…
Really? Then, if no one gives me a job, how am I supposed to develop experience you retard?!
I was so pissed at that time… then I decided to take additional math classes in order to fulfill the requirements for graduate school (Calculus III and Ordinary Differential Equations) and I obtained descent grades, not outstanding, but fair for me (lol!). I had a great time, though I had to make a loan to pay the whole semester; $1,550.00 for two miserable classes. Would you believe it? With that money you can pay a whole semester at the UPR with four classes and survive for about 2 to 3 months with the rest!
Anyway, moving on… I found a job as a web-designer at Vacation Club located at Condado. I became the IT Manager of the department and, I swear to god I have never seen so many dumb people in one place…
One of them thought that CD-ROM’s were actual Cup-Holders for their drinks and that the computer Mouse was made from rats…I felt so out of place!
After that “;Paris Hilton” experience for almost a year…I decided to move to a real job, and now, I am a compliance analyst at a famous bank in Puerto Rico. I work with the Anti-Money laundering division! Sounds like fun, isn’t it? You get to see a lot of weird things about how people cleans money from the underground world. As a matter of fact, Puerto Rico has a lot of (like we call them in Spanish) “truqueros!” out there…who said we were saints?
Anyway, I am planning to begin my master’s degree in Game Techonology at the Polytechnic University as soon as November, 2008 where they are offering some artificial intelligence courses. They have some special scholarships and I think I qualify for some of them.
That said, I long to get a new camera…mine passed away almost a year ago. That’s pretty much why I haven’t uploaded any works.
Well, gotta go now.
